  1. Tap on windows logo key and key R to open the RUN dialogue box on your system.
  2. Write “devmgmt.msc” in the box and press Ok.

  4. Find the driver you have installed. Right-click on it; the “Update Driver” option will be there. Tap on it to perform the update.

  6. Be patient and let it finish its search then the installation process.
  7. Now restart the system and check whether the issue with your spooler is fixed or not.

NOTE: To download updates manually from the respective manufacturer’s website. Go for option 2 “Browse my computer for driver software” in step 5 and select the downloaded file to install the update.

In case the issue is not resolved then try uninstalling the driver and then reinstalling it again.

  1. Again open the “Device Manager” by following the above 2 steps.
  2. Find your installed driver and right-tap. Tap on the “Uninstall Device” option and then “Remove” everything related to the driver.

In case you do not have a CD, you can also download the whole driver package from the printer manufacturer website and install it.

NOTE: there is a basic package, which is not the same as the full package. It includes only the basic drivers i.e. printer driver. You can try this option rather than going for the full package which includes all the other related drivers with the printer driver.

We would suggest you go for the basic driver using your printer’s manufacturer website. Install it and then check whether the issue with your printer’s spooler got fixed or not. In case it does not fix then go for the full installation package.

Remove the Spooler Files

You need to delete all the files present in your printer’s spooler folder. Follow the below steps to perform this task.

  1. Search for “This PC” (Or your PC name) in the search bar and click on it.
  2. Now find “C Drive” and tap on it to open.
  3. Now follow this path- “Windows/System32/spool/Printers.” In case asked for permission, simply press “Continue”.

  7. Now on the same page, switch to the “General” tab and choose “Start”. This will restart the spooler service automatically.

  • Step 4

Replace the Spool Folder with another Spool File

This is a trick, many users have found this useful. Copy the spool folder from any system which is running on windows 10. Keep in mind that it should be of the same version as yours i.e. 32-bit or 64-bit.

  1. Follow steps given in the above method up-to step 3 to go into the spool folder of the system you want to copy from. Copy it in any Pendrive and then into the troublesome system.
  2. Simply cut the previous spool folder your C drive to another drive and paste this new spoon folder there.

Now you have to export the registry key from the same system you have copied the spool folder.

Folder – HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /SYSTEM/Current Control Set/Control/Print

Paste this into your system and run it, it will get added in your registry.

Modification under Registry

Follow the below steps to do so

  1. Tap on the Windows logo key with alphabet “R” to open the “RUN” dialogue box.
  2. Write “regedit” in the box and tap ok. In case you get an administration confirmation pop up, just press “Yes”. This will open up the “Registry Editor”.

  3. Now tap on the “File” then choose the “Export” option. Choose any location like desktop, then give it a name, choose “ALL” under export range, and save it.
  4. Now you have created a backup. Go for the next steps to modify your registry now.
  5. On the same screen namely “Registry Editor”, go to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Providers.
  6. Remember do not delete the default keys. Here default keys are Internet print provider and LanMan Print Services. Delete all the keys which have been additionally added i.e. any additionally added folder apart from above two.

NOTE: After above do one more thing as mentioned below.

  1. Follow up step 4 up to “Print”. Choose folder “Environment” under Print.
  2. Then go for “Windows NT x86” if you are a 32-bit version user. Or In case you are a 64-bit user go for “Windows NT x64”.
  3. Under this choose “Print Processor”. Now except “winprint”, delete every other thing present in Print Processor folder. Right-click on the folders to get the delete option.
  4. Once it is done, just restart your spooler service and restart your system.

Now check whether the issue with your printer’s spooler got fixed or not.

Altering the value of Depend on Service
